This is not Mai Thu Huyen’s first film to fail at the box office.

In 2021, Mai Thu Huyen attracted attention with her first movie Kieu – adapted from The Tale of Kieu by Nguyen Du, exploiting the relationships of the characters: Kieu, Thuc Sinh and Hoan Thu.

This work is considered to have invested in costumes and settings, bringing together many names loved by the public such as: My Duyen, Cao Thai Ha, Le Khanh, Phuong Thanh, Hieu Hien…

However, when she debuted, Kieu had sluggish sales and was not well received by the audience.

In the film, Mai Thu Huyen also appeared as Dam Tien, but the actress was heavily criticized for her scary appearance.

Previously, in 2017, Mai Thu Huyen both starred and was the producer of the movie American Dream (Hong Ngan was director and screenwriter), with 60% of the scenes recorded in the US.

The film tells about the life of Linh (played by Mai Thu Huyen) – a successful doctor in Vietnam, whose husband is The Vinh (played by Binh Minh), also a doctor.

Although it is a romantic drama, American Dream explores the story of the medical profession with scenes shot by professionals in the industry.

Many reviewers said that despite praising the fidelity in love and the passion for medicine, American Dream still has many `bugs`, making it difficult for viewers to feel the message.
