(Dan Tri) – Assembled cars have the advantage of a 50% reduction in registration fees in the second half of 2023, but in the list of the 5 best-selling high-undercarriage car models in Vietnam, there are still 2 products that are imported complete units.
Despite the impact of the economic recession, the Vietnamese auto market was still vibrant last year with the appearance of new products, most of which were high-clearance vehicles.
Mazda CX-5: 16,808 vehicles
Mazda CX-5 is among the few products that recorded positive sales growth last year, at 32.3% compared to 2022. This model is already popular with Vietnamese customers in the C-size SUV segment and has a strong capacity.
During the upgrade in the middle of last year, the Mazda CX-5 changed slightly in design and equipment.
Thanks to the same price as some B-class SUV models such as the Hyundai Creta (highest 740 million VND), the Mazda CX-5 quickly attracted the attention of many Vietnamese users.

In the last months of 2023, the Mazda CX-5 was added with a 2.5L version and experienced two price increases.
Kia Sonet: 11,366 vehicles
Similar to the CX-5, Kia Sonet also recorded consumption growth of up to 20% in 2023. This result is due to the fact that this model has been adjusted by Thaco to reduce the suggested retail price by 35-45 million VND at the end of the month.
Sonet competes directly with Toyota Raize in the A-size urban SUV segment. Products from the Korean brand do not have outstanding equipment but still sell better than Japanese competitors thanks to a variety of versions and attractive prices.

However, Kia Sonet will still face many challenges in 2024. At the end of December 2023, Hyundai Venue was officially launched in Vietnam, giving users new options in the A-class SUV segment.
In addition to having more competitors dividing the market share, Sonet also faces additional pressure from Toyota Raize.

With the new price, Toyota Raize is the cheapest product in the A-size urban SUV segment. Besides, this model also has two more outstanding safety features than Sonet: blind spot warning and vehicle warning.
Hyundai Creta: 10,719 vehicles
In 2023, Hyundai Creta experienced many `ups and downs`.
With the highest new price of 719 million VND, Kia Seltos continuously outsells Creta in the period June-September 2023.

Incentives for Hyundai Creta are continuously maintained by dealers in the last months of the year, sometimes up to 120 million VND (applicable to 2022 VIN cars).
Toyota Corolla Cross: 10,485 vehicles
Corolla Cross is one of the car models recording the sharpest decline in consumption in the market in 2023, up to 51% compared to 2022. In addition to not receiving a 50% reduction in registration fees in the second half of 2023 like other products,
In terms of size, Corolla Cross is in the B+ size urban SUV segment but is oriented by the Japanese automaker to compete with C-size products such as Mazda CX-5 or Hyundai Tucson.

After the CX-5, Hyundai Tucson entered the price reduction race when TC Motor adjusted it to 191 million VND in early October 2023.
Ford Everest: 9,960 vehicles
Compared to 2022, Ford Everest’s consumption will grow by nearly 43% in 2023. Notably, this model has a relatively high selling price in the D-size SUV segment (1,099-1,499 billion VND).
In addition, Everest does not have as many incentives as its competitors.
At the end of December 2023, Hyundai’s model increased its price by 60-70 million VND, the new price ranges from 1,029-1,369 billion VND, cheaper than Everest but still not selling as well as the American model.

Experts explain that the Ford Everest’s appeal is mainly due to the attractive features of the new generation, while its direct competitors do not have it.
