(Dan Tri) – The pro-Ukrainian armed group said it had captured another village in the Belgorod region after launching an attack campaign into Russian territory in recent days.
The image described by the pro-Ukrainian armed group shows them raising the flag in Belgorod, Russia (Photo: Siberian Battalion).
The Siberian Battalion announced that it had raised its flag in the village of Kozinka, Belgorod, Russia, with the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC) group.
`Limited special operations of volunteer forces on the territory of the Russian Federation continue. The flags of the Siberian Battalion and RVC were hoisted in the village of Kozinka in the Russian Federation,` the announcement read.
The above battalion posted a photo of its members holding flags, but it was not possible to determine when the photo was taken, nor the accuracy of the statement.
Russia has not commented on this information.
These are two of three anti-Kremlin armed groups stationed in Ukraine, including the Russian Free Corps.
Previously, on March 12, the three groups above said they had crossed the border and attacked Russian territory in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.
Moscow accused Ukraine and the US of being behind these groups with the goal of disrupting Russia’s internal affairs.
Andriy Yusov, spokesman for the General Directorate of Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR), said: `The Kursk and Belgorod regions are already war zones. This is what we confirm.`
He said that Russian members of the three armed groups mentioned above `are defending their civil rights` by opposing the Kremlin and they `have no other choice`.
Meanwhile, Russia said that it had stopped attacks on its territory, causing Ukraine to suffer heavy losses in terms of manpower, weapons, and equipment.
According to Forbes, the attack by three armed groups on Russian territory can be considered the largest scale in more than 2 years since the Moscow-Kiev war broke out.
Western observers say that the goal of the three groups above does not seem to be to take over Russian territory, but to create a psychological warfare attack, affecting the Russian people.
It is no coincidence that the attacks took place at the time Russia held its presidential election.
Despite this, Mr. Putin still received overwhelming support from voters in the presidential election and will certainly be elected for a new term.
Additionally, according to Forbes, with key military forces sent to fight in Ukraine, Russia could face the challenge of defending Belgorod and Kursk against potential future attacks.
Russian border regions such as Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod, as well as the capital Moscow, have been regularly targeted by drones and missiles since Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022
Recently, Ukraine is also said to have continuously attacked Russian targets, especially oil refineries.
Another of Kiev’s goals is to distract Russia and force it to withdraw its forces from the military campaign in Ukraine to strengthen border defenses.
