Ukraine and its foreign partners may invite Russia to attend a future peace conference to discuss ending the more than two-year war between the two countries on Kiev’s terms, a senior Ukrainian official said.
Andriy Yermak, chief of staff of Ukraine’s president, said Switzerland is expected to host a summit to discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s vision for peace.
Previously, Switzerland revealed on February 23 that they planned to hold the above conference `in the summer`.
Mr. Yermak left open the possibility of Russia’s participation in the peace conference in the future, saying that Moscow could be invited to participate in a subsequent meeting and at the appropriate time.
`There may be a case where we will invite representatives of the Russian Federation at a time when the country’s leadership really wants to end the war and restore peace,` he said.
Mr. Zelensky first announced his peace formula at the G20 summit in November 2022.

The government of Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that Moscow is always ready to negotiate an end to the conflict with Kiev, but first Ukraine needs to cancel the decree banning negotiations with Russia and must accept `new territorial realities`.

Regarding the Swiss plan to organize a peace conference, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called: `Russia cannot ignore the voices of the majority of the world if we all take a principled stance and act together.`
However, Swiss President Viola Amherd said on February 24 that it would be difficult for Russia to participate from the beginning of the peace conference that Switzerland plans to host in the coming months.
