I don’t know when young people used the word `shit` to express their feelings.
VOV2 Radio once invited Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Thi – Deputy Director of the Center for Foreign Languages and Culture of Vietnam to explain to parents and older people what the word `vat` means among young people.
The word `shit` is commonly used by young people today (Illustration)
In terms of origin and semantics, `shit` does not mean evil or dark.
In the Vietnam Dictionary of Khai Tri Tien Duc Association, two more meanings are added, including:
1. Fall out.
2. Throw it out.
Thus, `shit` is also a healthy word like any other word.
In fact, young people do not have the strength to create the word `vat` with a meaning completely different from the original meaning.
Gradually, this way of speaking spread more widely.
Nowadays, young people consider it normal to utter one `shit` or two `shit` sentences.
Looking back, we see that in previous decades, especially before the structure: Vai + x was introduced, word usage was much more flexible and rich.
Nowadays, young people only know `so ugly` and `so beautiful`.
In short, due to their cunning, mischievousness and creativity, young people have turned the word `shit` – which is harmless – into an uncivilized way of speaking.
