`I will inform the Chinese President about the situation surrounding the Ukraine crisis. We are very grateful to our Chinese friends and colleagues for the initiatives they have taken to resolve this issue,` General
In Beijing, Putin also appeared to criticize Western-led security alliances in the Asia-Pacific region.
Before arriving in Beijing, in an interview with Chinese media, President Putin also said that he supported China’s peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
`Beijing is well aware of the root causes (of the Ukraine crisis) and the global geopolitical importance, which is reflected in the 12-point plan titled `China’s View on Political Resolution`.
Regarding the four additional conflict resolution principles recently proposed by President Xi Jinping, President Putin affirmed that these principles are completely consistent with the above plan.
`Beijing proposes practical and constructive steps to achieve peace by refraining from pursuing interests and escalating tensions, minimizing the negative impact of conflict on the global economy.`
However, according to the Russian leader, neither Ukraine nor Western sponsoring countries support these initiatives.
According to Xinhua, from the beginning of the Ukraine crisis, China has actively made efforts to find a political solution to this problem.
China has long affirmed its neutral stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Early last year, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a 12-point proposal to end the conflict in Ukraine.
While Russia supports this plan, Ukraine and the West believe that Beijing’s proposal is more beneficial to Russia.
Ukraine announced that it continues to consider the 10-point peace formula proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky as the foundation for all peace talks, including Russia’s unconditional withdrawal of troops from Ukrainian territory and compensation for damages.
For their part, Russian officials have repeatedly declared their willingness to negotiate, but on the condition that Ukraine must acknowledge `new territorial realities`.
