American public opinion is again discussing the possibility of President Donald Trump being impeached or not after shocking revelations by Mr. Michael Cohen, once the White House boss’s lawyer.
On August 21, Mr. Cohen admitted to paying two women to keep quiet about their relationship with Mr. Trump before the 2016 election at the direction of `a candidate` with the main purpose of causing outrage.
Although Mr. Trump was not named, everyone knows who Mr. Cohen did this for.
Calls for Mr. Trump’s impeachment have increased since allegations emerged that the White House boss asked Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director James Comey to end the investigation into the connections between Mr. Michael Flynn and his adviser.

However, whether or when a US president can be prosecuted is a legal debate.
What is impeachment?
Impeachment is the process by which Congress puts certain officials, including the president, on trial.
The impeachment process works similarly to passing a bill.
The House of Representatives is currently controlled by the Republican Party with 238 seats, while the Democrats hold 193 seats and 4 seats are vacant.
Once through the House of Representatives, impeachment goes to the Senate, where a two-thirds vote is needed to convict the president and remove Mr. Trump from office.
History shows that two presidents were impeached in the House of Representatives but escaped impeachment in the Senate – Andrew Johnson (1868) and Bill Clinton (1998).

What crime could Mr. Trump be charged with?
Some people pointed to conflicts of interest in business dealings immediately after Mr. Trump took office.
In addition, special prosecutor Robert Mueller is said to be investigating Mr. Trump for alleged obstruction of justice after he fired Mr. Comey, who was then leading the investigation into the connection between the election campaign and Trump.
Now, Mr. Trump is implicated again in the case related to Mr. Cohen.
