Aviation analyst Kyle Bailey told Al Jazeera that the pilot or any other member of the crew did not make any emergency calls before the helicopter carrying Iranian President Raisi and a number of officials.

The helicopter carrying Iranian President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and 7 other people lost contact on May 19 after returning from a dam inauguration event on the border between Iran and Azerbaijan.
After an overnight search, Iranian officials confirmed on the morning of May 20 that all people on the helicopter had died.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced five days of national mourning to commemorate the victims.
First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber currently assumes the presidency, replacing Mr. Raisi, until elections are held in a maximum period of 50 days.
The helicopter crash took place in the context of escalating tensions in the Middle East, including war between Israel and Hamas and `tit for tat` attacks on each other’s territory between Israel and Iran.
Israel has not commented on the helicopter crash, but an Israeli official confirmed to Reuters that the country was not involved in the incident.
