(Dan Tri) – The debate between electric cars and gasoline cars continues to be a hot topic with no end in sight, but in another niche in Vietnam, car models using combined gasoline-electric engines are gradually conquering
When participating in automobile groups and forums in Vietnam, it will not be difficult to encounter heated discussion topics around electric and gasoline cars.
In Vietnam, there are currently dozens of hybrid car models (in general), in many segments, including both popular and luxury cars (Photo: NTP).
However, in Vietnam, it’s not just that.
The proof is that in 2023, there will be 6 new hybrid car models launched in our country.
Diverse choices, reasonable prices
Toyota is the most active car company in `popularizing` hybrid cars in Vietnam.
Haval chose a hybrid car model to `introduce` the Vietnamese market (Photo: HQN).
The `rookie` from China, Haval, also chose to approach the Vietnamese market with the H6 model and only has 1 hybrid engine option.
Previously, Nissan also attracted attention when introducing to domestic users the Kicks model.
Point out the above features to see that hybrid cars in Vietnam are gradually becoming more diverse in choice.
To boost sales, Nissan dealerships choose to reduce car prices, starting with a few tens of millions of dong or preferential sales policies for internal customers.
Not only Nissan Kicks has difficulty reaching customers due to high prices, Yaris Cross is also similar, forcing dealers to offer incentives for these two car models (Photo: TMV).
Launched not long ago, the Yaris Cross HEV version received a discount of 100 million VND from dealers, thus sales improved significantly.
Not all hybrid cars are the same
The similarity/difference comparison here is in terms of engine technology.
Currently, some parallel hybrid car models can run purely on electricity for several dozen kilometers when the battery has enough capacity and operate at low speeds.
For example, with the Yaris Cross, the car uses 3.56 liters for 100km of urban travel with the hybrid version.
Hybrid technology on different car models may be different, but is basically a combination of gasoline engine and electric motor to optimize fuel consumption (Photo: Kim Chi).
Meanwhile, the e-Power engine on the Nissan Kicks can be understood as a serial hybrid system.
In addition to running smoothly, accelerating quickly and smoothly, e-Power also uses fuel more efficiently.
Meanwhile, Honda CR-V or Haval H6 use hybrid engines combined in parallel and in series.
The Japanese car company continues to focus on hybrid in Vietnam
`If electric vehicles require more infrastructure, networks and power supply, vehicle models with e-Power technology have more potential at the present time. With the ASEAN market,
Similarly, Toyota also has high hopes for hybrid cars in our country.
When it seems like the whole world is chasing pure electric cars, Toyota, Nissan and other Japanese automakers choose a `softer` approach to hybrid cars.
